Analytics for Shopify

Track which content and traffic sources actually drive Shopify sales, not just visitors.

No credit card required. Takes 2 minutes.

Why analytics matter for Shopify sites

Shopify Analytics shows what sold. That's useful, but it doesn't tell you why. Which traffic source converted best? Which blog post drove sales? What page were visitors on right before they bought? Muro answers all of that in plain English, so you can stop guessing about your store's growth levers.

How to add Muro to Shopify

Adding Muro to your Shopify store takes about two minutes:

01

Open your theme code

From Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes. Click the three dots next to your live theme and pick Edit code.

02

Edit theme.liquid

In the file tree, open layout/theme.liquid. Paste the Muro script just before the closing </body> tag at the bottom.

03

Save

Click Save in the top right. Muro starts tracking visits across your storefront immediately.

Works on all Shopify plans. To track purchases as conversion events, also paste the script in Settings, then Checkout, then Additional scripts.

What Muro tracks on Shopify

Once installed, Muro tracks the things that matter — automatically.

Pageviews across products, collections, and custom pages

Add-to-cart and checkout-start events

Order completions when configured in checkout scripts

Traffic sources: organic, paid, social, referral

Devices, browsers, and country breakdown

Real situations where Muro helps Shopify users

These are the kinds of moments where a daily insight email beats a dashboard.

01

Mobile users abandon their carts more than desktop users

Muro flags this kind of pattern automatically. If your mobile abandonment jumps, you'll get a heads-up that says 'check your mobile checkout' the next morning.

02

You're running ads and want to know which campaigns actually drive sales, not just clicks

Muro tracks the source of every purchase. If your Facebook ad clicks are high but conversions are low, you'll see it clearly without needing to set up complex attribution.

03

A blog post on your store starts driving sales

Muro tracks which content drives traffic that actually buys. Often it's a tutorial or comparison post, not your product pages. Once you know, you can write more in the same style.

What you'll actually get

Muro doesn't show you charts. It tells you what matters. Here's an example insight a Shopify site might receive.

Alert

Mobile cart abandonment jumped 22% this week

Mobile visitors are abandoning carts at 78% (up from 64% last week). Worth checking your mobile checkout flow. Common causes: payment errors, slow load, or unclear shipping costs.

Tips for getting more out of Muro on Shopify

Quick wins from people who use Muro every day.

To track full purchase conversions with order data, paste the Muro script in Settings, then Checkout, then Additional scripts. This is separate from the theme.liquid script.

Muro tracks visits to your /cart, /checkout, and /products pages automatically, so you can see funnel drop-off without any setup.

If you change themes, remember to add the Muro script back to your new theme.liquid. Theme switches don't carry over.

Free Shopify themes (Dawn, Sense, Symmetry) and paid themes work identically. The script goes in the same place regardless.
